What to do if a tooth has a damaged crown?<\/h2>\n\n

A severely damaged tooth crown \u2013 due to caries or mechanical injuries \u2013 does not have to be a reason for extraction. After all, even a very damaged tooth can be repaired.<\/strong> How to repair teeth?<\/strong> First, we treat it endodontically, and then strengthen it with a crown-root inlay. Such an inlay stabilizes the tooth and prepares it for prosthetic reconstruction in the form of a porcelain crown. <\/p>\n\n

And what if there is a large hole in the tooth due to caries?<\/h3>\n\n

We treated the tooth with a root canal, but after the caries was removed, a large hole was left in the tooth. Instead of sealing it with a composite – especially in molars – we use overlays, i.e. tooth reconstructions<\/a> with mysterious names: inlay, onlay or overlay. Generally, they are a type of micro-crowns that rebuild the anatomy of the tooth, most often destroyed by caries. The inlay recreates cavities on the occlusal surfaces. Porcelain crowns<\/a> are the most aesthetic way to rebuild decayed teeth. A porcelain crown most closely mimics the appearance of natural teeth. When done well, it is virtually indistinguishable from your own teeth. A prosthetic crown can be compared to a thimble that is pasted onto a polished tooth.
