What does single jaw surgery consist of?<\/h2>\n\n

Single-jaw surgery, also known as single-jaw osteotomy, involves surgical correction of one of the dental arches – usually the upper or lower jaw. During the procedure, the oral and maxillofacial surgeon appropriately relocates the bones so as to anatomically and functionally improve the relationship between the upper and lower jaws. <\/p>\n\n

Typically, such surgeries are performed on patients struggling with severe malocclusions, such as anterior overbite, posterior overbite, open bite or facial asymmetry, which orthodontics alone cannot correct.<\/p>\n\n
