When is surgical extraction of an impacted tooth necessary?

How is the procedure performed?
- Diagnosis – X-ray or CBCT scan to precisely assess the tooth’s position and surrounding structures.
- Anesthesia – most often local, ensuring full patient comfort.
- Gum incision and bone removal – the surgeon gains access to the impacted tooth.
- Tooth extraction – removal of the tooth in its entirety or divided into smaller fragments.
- Suturing – to accelerate healing and minimize the risk of complications.
Recovery and post-procedure recommendations
After the procedure, the patient may experience swelling, mild pain, or tenderness – this is completely normal. We recommend rest, applying cold compresses, and taking prescribed painkillers and anti-inflammatory medications. After a few days, the patient can return to normal activities, but full healing usually takes about 7–14 days. At Stomo Clinic, we also provide post-operative care and follow-up appointments.
