What does the procedure look like?
Implant removal is performed under local anesthesia and usually does not require an incision in the gum. Depending on the clinical situation, the doctor may use special tools for atraumatic unscrewing of the implant or, if necessary, perform surgery. The goal is to protect as much bone tissue as possible, which is especially important for planned reimplantation.
What happens after the implant is removed?
After the procedure, the doctor will assess the condition of the tissues and suggest a treatment plan. In many cases, it is possible to re-implant the implant – after a healing period or after a bone regeneration procedure (e.g. augmentation).
