Safe removal of pathological lesions in the oral cavity

Odontogenic cysts are pathological lesions that can develop asymptomatically for a long time, and their presence is often detected incidentally – most commonly during an X-ray or CBCT scan. Although often benign, untreated cysts can lead to serious consequences such as tooth displacement, bone loss, and even infections.

Description

At Stomo Clinic, we specialize in microsurgical cyst removal with maximum precision and patient safety. The procedure is performed by experienced oral surgeons and preceded by thorough imaging diagnostics.

When is cyst removal necessary?

  • A radicular cyst, periodontal cyst, dentigerous cyst, or other cystic lesions have been diagnosed
  • Presence of chronic inflammation around a tooth or implant
  • The cyst causes pain, swelling, or tooth displacement
  • Orthodontic or prosthetic treatment is planned
  • Impaired eruption of an impacted tooth (e.g., wisdom tooth)

How does the procedure work?

  • The procedure is performed under local anesthesia
  • The surgeon precisely opens the bone at the cyst site, removes the lesion, and cleans the surrounding tissues
  • If necessary, sutures are placed, and the patient receives individual post-operative instructions
  • Procedure time: approx. 30–60 minutes
  • Option to supplement the procedure with bone regeneration (augmentation) at the defect site

What happens after the procedure?

  • Follow-up and suture removal after approx. 7 days
  • Possible recommendations for antibiotic therapy and anti-inflammatory medication
  • Quick recovery and minimal discomfort after the procedure
  • Regular check-ups allow monitoring of the healing process and rule out recurrence
